Privacy policy

Draft Night Live is designed to turn a signed-in ESPN Fantasy Football draft into a TV-friendly board without collecting ESPN credentials or building a remote database of your league activity.

What the companion accesses

When syncing is enabled, the Chrome companion runs only on supported ESPN Fantasy pages and the Draft Night Live board. It reads the league and draft-room information needed for the board: league name and ID, team and manager display information, draft order and status, completed selections, and clock signals.

What it does not collect

The companion does not ask for, read, or store your ESPN password. It does not copy authentication cookies, payment information, email, private messages, or unrelated browsing history. Draft Night Live does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics.

Anonymous usage counts

The Draft Night Live server keeps simple, aggregate counters for its own product analytics, such as how many times a page was viewed on a given day, how many public ESPN league syncs succeeded, and how many distinct public league IDs synced that day. These counters do not include names, IP addresses, cookies, or any other personal identifiers, and they are never sold or shared. Private companion draft data is not included; it stays on the commissioner's device as described above.

Companion install check-ins

The companion is downloaded as a file and added to Chrome manually, so there is no Chrome Web Store dashboard telling us how many people installed or still use it. To measure that, the companion sends a small check-in when it is installed, when it is updated, and roughly twice a day while Chrome is running.

A check-in contains only three things: a random identifier generated on the user's own device, whether the event was an install, an update, or a routine check-in, and the companion version number. The random identifier exists solely so that repeat check-ins from the same browser are not counted as different users. It is not derived from and cannot be linked to an ESPN account, league, email address, name, or device fingerprint. No ESPN data, draft data, league IDs, page contents, or browsing history are sent.

Check-ins can be turned off at any time with the Send anonymous install count switch in the companion popup. Turning it off stops all check-ins; the draft board and ESPN sync continue to work normally.

Where data is stored

Normalized draft data is stored in Chrome extension local storage on the user's device and is shared only with a supported Draft Night Live tab in the same Chrome profile. Manager aliases and uploaded photos remain in that board's local browser storage. Draft Night Live does not upload this information to an application database.

Sharing and sale

Draft Night Live does not sell, rent, or share user data for advertising, credit, insurance, employment, or other unrelated purposes. Data is used only to provide the user-facing draft synchronization and TV-board experience.

Permissions

The extension requests access to supported ESPN Fantasy pages so it can detect draft state, and to the Draft Night Live board so it can deliver the normalized display state. Chrome storage keeps the user's league configuration and most recent board state. Scripting and tab access let the user reconnect already-open ESPN and board tabs. The alarms permission schedules the periodic anonymous check-in described above and is unused when check-ins are turned off.

Retention and deletion

Users can pause syncing from the companion. Removing the extension deletes its Chrome-local data according to Chrome's extension behavior, including the random check-in identifier. Manager photos and aliases can be removed from the board setup or by clearing site data for Draft Night Live. Because check-in records contain no personal identifiers, they cannot be traced back to an individual for deletion; they are retained only as aggregate counts.

Limited use

Use of information received from Chrome is limited to providing and improving Draft Night Live's single disclosed purpose. The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Children and changes

Draft Night Live is not directed to children under 13. This policy may be updated when the product or its data practices change; the effective date above will be revised.
